portia grandÉ LANDSCAPE
A shared landscape designed for life at every age.
Pune

CONCEPT

Landscape architecture and interior design of common areas for a 2 acres property that houses 134 m tall twin high-rise residential towers in Pune city, India.

The landscape concept draws from Gibson’s Theory of Affordances (1979), where:
“The affordances of the environment are what it offers the animal (here, human), what it provides or furnishes, either for good or ill”

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

The design focuses on applying the concept of affordances in both the physical and social aspect for families with children, young people, and senior citizens.

For example, at the podium level, a seamless inclusive landscape is envisioned that brings together water bodies, pool side cafes, alfresco dining space, intergenerational sensory garden, young children’s play area and bamboo jungle. Essentially, a common space with tucked away uses for varied user groups.

In order to ensure a seamless experience for users from the site into the building, the scope of work for this project includes interior design and spatial planning of amenities and common areas.

Humanising Design. A call to action.
